Contract Roasting

Coffex has the capacity to do contract roasting for private label and other brands. As one of the largest coffee manufacturers in the Southern Hemisphere, Coffex has the complete package under the one roof. We source green beans, roast, package, warehouse and distribute internationally. As well as roasting and packing our signature blends; Coffex is HaCCP and ISO9001 certified along with certifications for KOSHER, HALAL, ORGANIC, FAIRTRADE and UTZ. Contact us for a tour of the plant.

The warehouse and packaging at our Brunswick plant utilises a 300-kilogram Brambati roaster (fully closed loop system) and 120-kilogram and 22-kilogram Probat roasters. The roasting facilities enable Coffex to roast up to 30 tonnes of coffee per week. We are able to roast large commercial quantities as well as running smaller bespoke batches on our 22-kilogram roaster.

The packaging plant has been set up to pack and fill 8,000 retail brick pack (250 gram) vacuum packets per day. Additionally, the packaging plant is able to pack beans and ground coffee in 3KG, 1KG, 500gram and 250 gram with vacuum seal or with airlock valves that keep beans at their optimum freshness. The foils used are of premium quality and come in a range of colours and blank finishes so that they can be uniquely branded for retail or specific coffee shops.

We have three licensed Q-Graders at Coffex. Our Research and Development Manager has developed a range of specialty coffees to cater for the discerning coffee drinker. 100 per cent Arabica coffee beans are considered the highest-grade in coffee. Typically grown at a higher altitude, Arabica beans have less caffeine and a sweeter flavour to Robusta beans.

All our coffees are roasted locally in Melbourne. A huge benefit of this is the freshness. Coffee is a perishable product and degrades over time. For our foodservice customers we send our blended coffee out at 15-29 days. For specialty coffee we send out at 2-5 days.
